This week’s career moves sees partner promotions at KPMG Midlands, consulting hires at newly rebranded RSM, Grant Thornton International hires top HR expert to drive new talent and culture campaign, FD change at MR Solutions and legal contracts launched at EY
KPMG Birmingham has made two partner appointments at the firm with Khush Purewal and Nathan Cain taking on partnership status, while it has also appointed six directors in the Midlands, including Gordon Docherty and James Tracey in audit, Gwyn Llewelyn and Nick Taylor in transactions and restructuring, and Kaljinder Nijjar in tax. As part of the promotion activity, audit specialist Colin Brearley has also been promoted to director at KPMG’s Nottingham office.
RSM Southampton has appointed two new partners to its Southampton office, indirect tax partner Philip Munn and audit partner Paul Anthony. Munn joins RSM from Deloitte, where he worked on VAT and duty issues, while ex BDO audit partner, Anthony, specialises in the travel, hospitality and leisure market and has also worked with several technology companies, both as part of their in-house team and as an adviser.
Stephanie Hasenbos-Case has been named global leader for people and culture at Grant Thornton International. Prior to joining Grant Thornton, she was vice president global talent, culture & organisation effectiveness at H&R Block, and before this, global head of talent management at Sears Holdings Corporation and senior vice president retail customer experience strategy at Bank of America.
BSI, the business standards company, has appointed Douglas Hurt as a non-executive director with effect from 1 November 2015. Until February 2015 he was group finance director of FTSE 100 international engineering group, IMI plc, which he joined in 2006 from GlaxoSmithKline. He began his career at PwC where he qualified as an accountant before joining Glaxo Holdings plc.
MR Solutions has appointed Ben Withinshaw as financial director to manage the company’s ongoing expansion. The company, based in Guildford, is an independent developer and manufacturer of preclinical MRI technology with its revolutionary development of cryogen free bench top MRI scanners.
EY is to offer legal training contracts for aspiring solicitors, as part of the ongoing growth of its UK law practice. Since receiving an ABS license in December 2014, EY has grown its UK legal services team to over 30 people and expects this figure to double in the course of the next 12 months.
