A winding-up petition has been issued by HMRC to Welsh football club Port Talbot Town
The part-time club, relegated from the Welsh Premier Division last season, confirmed in a statement that it has ‘a small outstanding debt’ to HMRC and that it ‘fully intends to pay the outstanding balance within seven days’.
‘We would like to reassure all supporters and staff at the club that the situation is under control and that this does not change anything with regards to any of the club’s activities,’ the statement added.
The club faces local side Bengal Dragons FC in a friendly on Saturday 16 July.
In June, League One side Oldham Athletic staved off a winding-up order, having previously failed to pay its players and staff on time in the three months to December 2015.
