The Real Greek rescued in Côte Brasserie pre-pack

Listed Japanese owner blames inflation and rises in minimum wage on sale of Greek restaurants after slicing Franco Manca sites just one month prior

Founded in Hackney in 1999 The Real Greek (TRG) has grown to offer modern Greek food in 28 restaurants across London, Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Glasgow.

However the restaurant’s owner since 2023, listed on the Tokyo exchange as Toridoll Holdings Corporation, has now sold the chain stating: ‘In recent years, high levels of inflation in the UK, driven by rising energy and food prices together with increase in labour costs resulting from rises in the minimum wage, have created a more challenging operating environment’.

Just last month, Toridoll launched a company voluntary arrangement (CVA) for its other UK restaurant business, Franco Manca.
