Scottish tax authority launches Revenue Scotland website

As details of Scotland’s new tax raising powers are confirmed Revenue Scotland, the tax authority responsible for the administration of Scotland’s devolved taxes, has formally launched its website

Serving as an information centre, the website explains the two incoming taxes Revenue Scotland is set to administer - Lands and Buildings transaction tax (replacing Stamp duty) and Scottish Landfill Tax (replacing the UK Landfill tax). Announced in 2012, these two taxes are expected to come into effect in 2015.

Revenue Scotland’s website provides calculators for the new taxes and details key upcoming dates relating to the taxes, as well as supplying a list of frequently answered questions.

The website reminds users that currently Revenue Scotland only has responsibility for the two devolved taxes.

All other taxes, and the Scottish Rate of Income Tax (SRIT) being introduced on 6 April 2016, remain under the administration of HMRC.

The website is here: https://www.revenue.scot/
