Sharing economy needs to have clearer tax rules

There are calls for the government to clarify tax rules on the sharing economy which is growing exponentially and ranges from people letting out rooms and driveways for commuter parking on a casual basis to shared dog ownership

The author of an independent review commissioned by the Department for Business Innovation and Skills to look at how the UK can develop the sharing economy has called for greater clarity on the tax situation for people who rent out their homes, cars and other assets on a short-term basis.
