Proposals for a new model of lease
accounting should be more straightforward, says Brian O’Donovan
Some of the recent proposals from the International Accounting
Standards Board for changes in financial reporting have been highly
complex. Undue complexity increases the costs and reduces the benefits
of proposals that would be supported more broadly if simplified. It
also may prevent the IASB achieving its objective of completing significant
projects by June 2011.
