Ziyad Patel, senior associate at PwC, talks to Zak Jakubowski about his trainee journey which started over six years ago, going from quitting university to a senior position at a Big Four firm through an apprenticeship
Patel, 26, from London joined PwC, back in 2013 after he dropped out of university in his first year.
He studied international business at Westminster business school, which he then left to join the higher apprenticeship scheme in tax at PwC.
It was a two-year programme where apprentices gained general work experience, the Association of Taxation Technicians (ATT) qualification and a diploma which records the different skills that apprentices develop over their time working at the firm.
Application
Patel said: ‘Halfway through my first year in university I was on the PwC website looking at grad roles and I came across their apprenticeship scheme.
‘I applied, did an online application, then I was invited for verbal and numerical reasoning. I heard back pretty quickly before I was invited for a phone interview which was probably the most difficult part.
