Series of fake AI generated videos featuring tax expert Dan Neidle taken off YouTube following complaints
YouTube removed four videos within 36 hours of reporting fake information posted by an anonymous user named Tax Information, which has no UK presence except blank Facebook and Instagram pages.
But the Tax Information channel is still active and has three videos by US and Canadian tax and finance experts Mark J Kohler and Rami Sethi, although nothing new has been posted for seven days.
The videos featuring Neidle were clearly AI generated with a terrible fake voiceover and were littered with nonsensical comments about tax.
Neidle told Business & Accountancy Daily: ‘It’s a weird experience seeing a video of almost-me, with a voice that’s nothing like me and talking total nonsense.
‘Even more weird that, given the obvious potential for fraud, YouTube doesn’t proactively detect and block channels like this, and that reporting AI impersonation is so hard. But I’m pleased it’s down!’
The rogue content creator only has six subscribers, but it is one to watch to ensure no other UK tax experts are impersonated using AI.
YouTube has confirmed the removal of the fake videos, stating: ‘Thank you for reporting videos that you find inappropriate. The video that you reported to us on 13 January 2026 has been removed or restricted from YouTube.
‘Please note that creators have the right to appeal YouTube's decision any time after their content is removed or restricted. You are able to check the status of the content that you flagged at any time.’
As the YouTube channel is still active, it is worth monitoring activity to watch if future AI generated content is posted and report it quickly.
