Justin Kyriakou, AAT’s global development manager, said: ‘Prospective accountancy students in Ireland will now have access to qualifications and membership services that are globally respected and recognised. AAT’s qualifications are available to everyone, regardless of experience or prior qualifications and offer a great way to boost or change career.

‘AAT has a strong heritage of delivering qualifications that are highly valued by employers, which deliver the skilled professionals that they need and want.

AAT says it has been granted six exemptions by leading accountancy body the Institute of Certified Public Accountants in Ireland (CPA Ireland), more than any other accounting technician body in Ireland.

Eamonn Siggins, CEO, CPA Ireland said: ‘We welcome the launch of AAT to the Irish market. With the gradual recovery of the economy there is increased demand for good accounting professionals and AAT’s qualification provides the initial practical, skills-based accounting training that will add value to the bottom line of any business.

‘Continuing then on the CPA route to a professional qualification is the natural progression route for AAT graduates and with generous exemptions available, students can seamlessly make the significant career transition from technician to qualified CPA.’

Partnering with Cenit College, AAT’s qualifications will be on offer throughout Ireland, and the launch brings to 40 the number of countries across the world where AAT is active, including Botswana, India, South Africa and New Zealand.
