Over 1,200 individuals have received awards in the New Year’s honours list.

Kevin Ellis, senior partner for the UK and Middle East, at Big Four firm PwC, has been awarded a CBE for services to economic growth and expanding social mobility. He joined PwC in 1984 as a graduate trainee and was made partner in 1996.

Ellis said: ‘I’m absolutely delighted to receive this award in the King's New Years Honours list. It's been a privilege to work at PwC UK throughout my career and to lead it for the last eight years. We’ve seen unprecedented change in the firm since I joined in 1984, and I’m proud to have played my part, but there is always further progress to be made.’

Another accountant on the New Year’s honours list was Catriona Campbell, EY partner, and chief technology and innovation leader, who received an MBE for her dedication to technology and innovation focused on research and development, and artificial intelligence.

Campbell said: ‘I’ve spent over 20 years working in the technology sector and have had the privilege of working with some fantastic colleagues, clients and their teams on the development and implementation of emerging technologies such as AI.

‘To be awarded with an MBE in recognition of this work is a tremendous honour and one of the highlights of my career so far.’

Hywel Ball, EY’s UK chair also commented on Campbell’s achievement. ‘Catriona has been a driving force in the development of EY’s technology services for clients, in areas such as AI, and has a wealth of experience in the sector. I am delighted that she has been recognised with this honour,’ he said.

The co-founder of AJ Bell, Andy Bell, has been honoured with a CBE for his services to the financial sector. Bell founded the company in 1995 with Nicholas Littlefair but decided to step down from his role as CEO in October 2022, however he has continued to work there as a consultant.

Yvonne Rawsthorne, operational readiness senior officer at HMRC, has been awarded an MBE for public service, having spent over 20 years at the tax authority, currently working on tax credit changes.

Jonathan Donaghy, deputy director for customs at the Treasury was given an OBE, also for public service.

The CEO of Do it Now Now, Bayo Adelaja has received an OBE for her services to social mobility, financial inclusion and entrepreneurship.

The low pay commissioner and national chair of the Federation of Small Businesses, Martin McTague has been honoured with an OBE for his services to small businesses.

The executive director, finance and corporate services of the Natural History Museum, Neil Greenwood has also been awarded an MBE, for his services to museums, after 25 years with the institution.

Bidesh Sarkar, the chief financial officer for the Department for Business and Trade, and a member of the ICAEW, has been awarded a CBE for public service. Lynn Pamment, chair of the Financial Reporting Advisory Board has also received a CBE for public service.

Mark Yallop of the Financial Markets Standards Board has been honoured with a CBE for services to the financial sector and charities.

The CEO of the Royal Mint, Anne Jessop has received a CBE for services to industry and the financial sector. Jessop was made CEO in 2018, after joining the organisation in 2008 and was the first woman to hold the position at the UK’s oldest business. ‘I received the honour of being awarded a CBE for services to industry and the financial sector. Being named alongside people doing such incredible work for the UK is a real honour, but I’m particularly proud of the spotlight it shines on The Royal Mint,’ said Jessop.

Tampon tax campaigner, Laura Croyton has been honoured with an MBE for her services to charitable campaigning.
