Against the clock

The toughest paper to pass is Financial Reporting, says Lynn Radose.

The Financial Reporting (FR) paper is often considered the most difficult of all professional stage papers and historically has the lowest pass rate. The reason for this is not the content or volume of the syllabus; it is no more technically challenging than any other paper. However, the way in which the syllabus is examined can lead to students struggling with this paper.

Approach

The most crucial element of the approach to any FR question is management of your time. Always identify how many marks the question is worth and calculate exactly how much time you should spend on the question (1.5 minutes per mark).
