Away from the smart environs of Jermyn Street and Piccadilly, a different kind of ‘boutique’ is doing business. But unlike the luxury brands riding high on foreign cash, this kind is said to be hitting troubled times. Welcome to the world of the tax boutique; firms which specialise in something out of fashion in mainstream tax advice: avoidance schemes. Boutiques have long existed, but have only come into public consciousness in the last 10 years.
