The big five challenges facing accountants

New legislation, National Insurance changes, hybrid working, and the unpredictability of UK tax policy pose some of the biggest challenges to the accountancy sector, says PracticeWeb managing director Dan McNamara

Here are some handy tips for accountants to get to grips with and in turn help their clients face the rest of the year with confidence.

Budget unpredictability

While the UK tax and fiscal system used to run on a relatively predictable cycle of Budgets and Statements, a combination of political activity and pandemic impacts has made things harder to follow in recent years.

The year 2019 saw no Budget speech at all for the first time in about 250 years; the 2020 Budget was overshadowed by a series of Covid-related announcements, followed by two separate Budgets in 2021.
