Budget 2017: key changes to company and private car taxation

MHA MacIntyre Hudson tax director Nigel Morris provides a detailed round up of the tax changes for cars, vans, fuels and electric vehicles following the Budget, including for diesel cars and driverless technology 

Philip Hammond delivered his first Autumn Budget on 22 November and focused on housing, inequality and fairness. Boosted by figures released that showed that borrowing is likely to be less than original Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) forecasts, so is shrinking as a percentage of GDP, the Chancellor pledged to give away money to invest to secure a bright future.

There were measures that impact vehicle taxation, benefits in kind and employees in general.

Diesel cars

As was expected, with pressure on the Chancellor to tackle air pollution there has been some increased taxation on diesel cars.
