Post-bailout, Cyprus needs to
reduce the volume of bureaucracy, says PwC Cyprus head Evgenios Evgeniou
The eurozone crisis interrupted more than three decades of growth
for Cyprus as an international business hub and the country is currently
working through the harsh consequences on the economy, particularly
for the banking sector. The implementation of the financial assistance
package reforms, although painful, will ultimately strengthen the
economy and they represent a challenge and an opportunity to reassess,
recalibrate and refocus on core and emerging strengths. The underlying,
and thus far resilient, strength in professional services and the
non-financial sectors of the economy is seen as essential to long-term
recovery.
