In the current economic climate, many corporate groups are experiencing tough trading conditions. Some will look to generate cash by selling off or demerging their ‘non-core’ businesses. The cash realised on the sale of a non-core subsidiary or joint venture investment can be used to repay debt or reinvest in the group’s core business activities.
