What is Croner Intelligence and why is it different from generic AI tools that are out there?

Julien: Croner Intelligence is a virtual assistant, built on top of Croner expert content. So, it might look like a typical AI tool from the outside. But actually, when you check what’s inside, it’s very different because instead of relying on public information, our AI relies only on, proprietary and licensed content from Croner. So that makes it more relevant when it comes to the tax context. And that also reduces the risk of hallucinations.

As an expert user of Croner products, and a chartered accountant and qualified CTA yourself, how do you see our customers using Croner Intelligence?

Paul: I’m absolutely convinced that Croner Intelligence will make our customers working lives easier. In terms of how users interact with the service, it will give users the rules and conditions, and identify decisive facts quickly so they can reach a conclusion efficiently. Croner Intelligence will highlight uncertainty and identify missing information. And full citation gives the user confidence that they are accessing the right information. But it won’t remove the need to exercise professional judgment.

So could you tell us how you built Croner Intelligence so quickly from the ground up?

Julien: Yes, sure. The AI part is really the tip of the iceberg, right? But the hidden parts people sometimes forget about are all the work that Paul and his team of tax experts, technical writers and specialists, have been doing on the content over many years, right? Many, many years.

So we could say that the work started many years ago, building this content and refining it. And you know, good content will usually make a good AI. So, with all the work Croner’s expert writers did on the content, when I joined the company and my team started to work on the AI, we already had the right material that we needed to build this product, and we didn’t waste any time having to go and look for content. Everything was prepared for us. So that’s why it did not take so long to put in place. 

Does Croner use AI to create content?

Paul: No, it doesn’t. The big part of this offering is the underlying content, we exclusively use highly qualified and highly experienced tax experts to create the content.

So Croner Intelligence only uses content held in our closed in-house systems?

Julien: Yes. So what’s really important to know is that our solution, Croner Intelligence, is the only AI solution that is driven exclusively by the Croner content, which ensures that our customers get the best results possible whilst minimising the risk of hallucinations.
