Duncan & Toplis expands with Marsh & Moss acquisition

East Midlands accounting firm Duncan & Toplis is to expand its Loughborough operation following a merger with local practice Marsh & Moss

The newly acquired firm will be branded as Duncan & Toplis, incorporating Marsh & Moss.

The acquisition brings the number of offices in the group to 11 and gives the firm a second office in Leicestershire, alongside Melton Mowbray.

Managing director, Adrian Reynolds, said the firm’s latest expansion was a significant move for the £18m income firm, which was ranked 38th in the 2015 Accountancy Top 75 firms survey.

Marsh & Moss directors Martin Shannon and Julie Chapman have joined the merged firm as directors, while managing partner Neil Harris will assist in the transition stage of the handover before retiring.

A total of 16 employees have also joined the Duncan & Toplis team. The merger brings staff numbers to 736 with 24 partners.

Reynolds said: ‘The acquisition fits in with our strategic plan as Loughborough has been a target area for us for some time,’ said Reynolds.

‘Marsh & Moss is one of the leading accountancy firms in Loughborough, and our acquisition of this well regarded business will create significant opportunities for all of our service offerings.

‘We’re very much looking forward to integrating the Marsh & Moss team.’

Shannon said:  ‘We are delighted to be able to join forces with Duncan & Toplis. Their ethos is very similar to ours and we are looking forward to being part of their group.

‘This move will enable us to offer a wider range of services to our clients and present our team members with more opportunities to develop their skills. With Neil’s retirement, Julie and I are confident that we have the support and encouragement to further develop our office and build on our existing client relationships.’

Duncan & Toplis operates out of offices in Boston, Grantham, Lincoln, Louth, Melton Mowbray, Newark, Skegness, Sleaford, Spalding and Stamford.
