Chris Kirchner, 37, had attempted to buy Derby out of administration in 2022 but his bid failed when the necessary funds failed to clear.

He has now been jailed for 20 years following a trial in the US over unrelated fraud charges relating to abuse of millions of dollars of company money which he used to fund a lavish lifestyle buying a private jet, luxury cars and designer jewellery.
