Flybe collapses for second time

Regional airline Flybe has gone into administration with the majority of staff losing their jobs, just two years since the company was rescued by private equity investors

The airline confirmed that it had ‘ceased trading’ on 28 January and immediately made 277 of its 321 staff redundant.

David Pike and Mike Pink of Interpath Advisory have been appointed joint administrators.

About 2,500 passengers were due to fly with the airline on Saturday, with around 75,000 passengers having flights cancelled. The airline has said that it would not be able to help passengers arrange alternative flights.
