Grant Thornton on course to hit 160 partner hire target early

Private equity backed Grant Thornton on track to hit 160-partner target a year ahead of schedule as attracts former Big Four partners and aims to continue hiring spree in 2027

Grant Thornton made 13 new partner appointments last month, taking its total partner appointments for the year so far to 121. The firm expects to reach its partnership growth target of 160 in the first quarter of 2027, almost a year ahead of schedule.

Once the original target is met, the firm ‘expects to announce a new and more ambitious goal in the New Year’, part of the growth plan post private equity investment from Cinven, adding it was ‘building the deepest partner bench in its history’, with 113 new equity partner appointments so far this year, taking the partnership to 330 equity partners.

The latest 13 equity partners sit across the audit, tax and advisory practices, made up of 12 external hires and one internal promotion with the list male only. The new hires join from a range of firms, including former partners from EY, Forvis Mazars and FTI Consulting.
