Neil Metcalf, 52, from Liverpool, was jailed in 2024 for 13 months after admitting to stealing £15,490 from two primary schools where he had worked as a headteacher.

Metcalf stole school money by writing cheques made out to fake companies, asking his unsuspecting stepson to cash the cheques and transfer the money back to his bank account.

Since being released, Metcalf has been banned from teaching indefinitely, following a teacher misconduct panel hearing at the Teaching Regulation Agency.

Metcalf was employed as headmaster of two Catholic primary schools, St Anthony of Padua in 2016, before moving to Our Lady’s Bishop Eton in September 2022.

His fraud was discovered after a finance officer at Our Lady’s noticed invoices from the school made out to a company called ‘School Fit’, which had an ‘invalid VAT number’.
