How secure do accountants feel in face of tech revolution?

The impact of technology on traditional accountancy jobs means it is critical for firms to support staff through a period of major transition, explains Alan Myers, regional director and accountancy recruitment expert at Reed

Research from Reed has found that just 30% of workers in the accountancy sector feel ‘very confident’ in the security of their roles. The impact of evolving technologies, such as artificial intelligence (AI), automation and machine learning, on perceived job security, career development and aspirations, mean that companies must carefully navigate a range of worker-related challenges and opportunities.

It is critical for accountancy firms to look to optimise the benefits of a technology revolution, support experienced and emerging staff through a period of transition and look to attract fresh talent from other sectors with the required technology skills already in place.
