ICAS project focuses on future of accountancy profession

ICAS has launched a major research project to redefine the role of accountants, examine what the future holds for the profession and improve trust and relevance

The fact-finding project from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland (ICAS), entitled Shaping the Profession, will take a radical approach, gathering the insights of key stakeholders, businesses and the public, to better understand what they want from future accountants and how the profession can adapt to future needs of the market.

From considering the impact of technology to investigating the purpose of regulation, the programme will deliver activity focused on five key areas, including stakeholder needs, the values and competencies of accountants, impact of technology, future training requirements and regulatory challenges.
