James Hurst is VAT director at Brown Butler. With a passion for VAT that goes back to my days working at HMRC, I am dedicated to helping businesses and organisations of all sizes with their VAT matters, regardless of the complexity involved.

Having worked at some of the UK’s leading accountancy firms, where I developed and grew specialist indirect tax teams, I can assist with all aspects of VAT advice and support.

I work closely with clients, predominantly owner-managed businesses, to understand their unique requirements and the specific tax rules that affect them, their company and its trade.

I also have considerable expertise working with third sector and not-for-profit groups, including charities, schools, colleges, professional bodies, housing associations and local authorities.
