Two Birmingham accountancy firms have joined forces to create one of the largest independent firms in the west Midlands following JW Hinks' merger with Austral Ryley.
The newly merged firm, which will trade under the JW Hinks' banner, has also adopted limited liability partnership (LLP) status. The merger is likely to create a potential challenger to mid-tier firms in the Midlands region, although the new entity would not disclose its annual fee income.
Austral Ryley senior partner, Gary Ashmore and partner Marcus Rose, and ten members of staff, transferred over to Edgbaston-based JW Hinks on 1 September.
The move by JW Hinks marks the firm's second merger in a year, following a tie-up with Mason Law in January.
Paul Jones, managing partner at JW Hinks, said the merger would strengthen JW Hinks' position in the West Midlands.
He said: 'We're pleased to have concluded this merger with such a strong firm of independent accountants who share our philosophy of providing the best possible service in a friendly and efficient manner.'
Ashmore said: 'The merger with JW Hinks will bring significant benefits to our clients, existing and potential, offering all the advantages of a mid-tier firm with the outstanding customer service of an independent firm.
'We have known the partners at JW Hinks for many years and know that our firms have a similar culture and ethos of providing our clients with the best possible accountancy and audit advice and services. The combined firm will be able to add value to its clients businesses as a result of the merger.'
Jones added: 'Future expansion is definitely in the pipeline in order to maintain and enhance our position.'
