The merger of the two firms boosts fee income to around £3.5m with a combined staff of 50 servicing clients across Gloucestershire covering general practice, valuation, property and strategic planning. 

Mark Spashett, managing partner at Guilfoyle Sage Gloucester, will become a director of the merged practice, which will trade as Kingscott Dix Ltd with a five-team board of directors.

The Guilfoyle Sage staff have relocated to Kingscott Dix’s offices in Gloucester, while the KD accounting practice  continues to operate as two separate subsidiaries under the KD banner out of offices in Gloucester and Cheltenham.

KD director Martyn Pitts said: ‘With the merger in Gloucester we are a sizeable firm with fee income from both offices around £3.5m.

‘Guilfoyle Sage has a strong agricultural background and we also have an agricultural specialisation so it made sense to amalgamate as it gives us critical mass.

‘We are larger so we can give more specialist support and they can use our valuations and VAT consultancy services, which they did not have.’

 ‘We can see huge potential value for our clients by being able to utilise the wealth of specialist expertise that KD has built up over the years in such areas as tax planning, strategic consultancy and corporate finance,’ Spashett said.

There will be no redundancies as a result of the merger with all staff transferred to the new merged practice from 1 July. There are 43 professional staff at KD with a team of seven support staff.

Both firms have clients based mainly in Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds. KD was founded in Gloucester almost 100 years ago in 1921, with an additional office in Cheltenham and specialises in family-owned enterprises, professional partnerships and owner-managed businesses, with clients overseas and in the UK.

Guilfoyle Sage Gloucester was set up in 1988 by former members of a national accountancy firm and will be transferring from their offices in the Gloucester docks. They cover services in a number of areas including taxation, finance, accountancy and business advice.
