Kate Reid has been appointed managing partner for Baker Tilly’s Bristol and Bath offices, with responsibility for the firm’s strategy and business development. Reid joined the firm as partner in 2010. Before joining Baker Tilly, Reid spent 13 years at accountancy firm Watts Gregory LLP as a partner and board member. She also worked in various business roles, inclluding and head of finance for retail chain Gilesports, and a consultant at marketing and communications agency, KR Consultancy
KPMG’s cyber security practice has announced four new senior level appointments. Phillip Hodgins joins the firm from the Cabinet Office, while James Fox joins as a director from Booz Allen Hamilton’s Middle Eastern practice, having also worked for McKinsey & Company as well as a ten year stint in the US Navy. Richard Krishnan is an internal appointment as a director, from KPMG’s global justice and security team. Tom Burton joins as a director after working as Detica's global head of managed security services and has served as a CIO, an advisor to the MOD, and with the Royal Artillery.
Insurance firm Old Mutual has appointed Ingrid Johnson as group finance director. Johnson takes over from Philip Broadley who will remain an executive director to ensure an effective transition until 31 August 2014.
PKF Cooper Parry has announced six new employees on its audit team. David Fotheringham joins as audit manager from KPMG; Ioanna-Maria Ioannou takes on the role of audit senior, after starting her career at BDO and Deloitte, as does Daniel Cowie who previously worked at PwC as a senior associate; while Paulina Zaleskahas been appointed as audit associate, having worked previously at KPMG. Tahir Ahmed and Fern Farnsworth join the firm as student chartered accountants.
James Cowper has appointed Julia Branson as a new partner in its insolvency and business restructuring team. Cowper has been running her own SME consultancy business, Branson Restructuring, working with SME businesses experiencing financial and operational difficulties having previously led the restructuring and insolvency teams of PwC and then Deloitte in the Thames Valley.
Robin Jarvis, ACCA special adviser and Professor of Accounting, Brunel University, has been appointed to the IFRS Foundation’s Small and Medium-sized Entities Implementation Group (SMEIG). Jarvis is one of 15 new members who will be advising on the international adoption of the IFRS for Small and Medium-sized Entities.
South West firm Milsted Langdon has announced that Susannah Adams has been made a partner in the practice and will head its corporate finance offering. Adams joined the firm in 2008 from a similar sized regional player in Oxford with whom she qualified as a chartered certified accountant (ACCA).
