Making Tax Digital: consultations at a glance - deadline 7 Nov

In mid-August, HMRC released six consultations on Making Tax Digital (MTD), focusing on the self-employed, smallest micro and unincorporated businesses, buy-to-let landlords and partnerships, although there were gaps in the consultation splurge with no detail on quarterly reporting for incorporated businesses or detail for charities

The consultation period for the initial six consultations, originally expected in April this year, will run until 7 November 2016. It normally takes at least 12 weeks before HMRC or the government responds to any feedback.

It is expected that a further consultation on incorporated businesses and quarterly reporting will be published before the end of 2016.

HMRC has said it is delaying the consultation on MTD for business as this element is not set to go live until 2019.
