North West-based firm Moore and Smalley will trade as MHA Moore and Smalley from October 1 2017 after confirming an official name change to highlight membership of the UK-wide MHA network, part of Baker Tilly International

The firm, ranked 45th in Accountancy’s Top 75 Survey 2017 with a fee income of £14.2m, will ‘retain its independence’ but is adopting the prefix of its national accountancy network, MHA, which it joined in 2010.

The firm has nine offices across the region and employs around 300 people.

The MHA network was established by MHA MacIntyre Hudson and is a UK-wide association eight independent accountancy firms spanning 50 offices nationwide.

They collectively employ 179 partners and around 2,200 staff, with a combined turnover of £130m.

By extension, MHA member firms are also part of Baker Tilly International, the world's ninth largest international network.

MHA Moore and Smalley’s managing partner Graham Gordon said: ‘While we remain at the heart of the North West, many of our clients operate on a national and global level. Through MHA, we have that UK and international reach and we feel it is important that our brand reflects that, while retaining our independence.

‘Not only do our clients that benefit from our relationship with MHA by accessing more specialists in more territories, but so do our people.

‘We share internal resources and intelligence with other member firms, giving our people access to new thinking on a national and international level. Some of this includes national and international secondments. This will enable our people to stay at the cutting edge of a changing sector.’
