In this week’s accountancy career moves, partner promotions and hires at Albert Goodman, BDO, FRP Advisory, haysmacintyre, R3, TMA, Optimum Finance

 

BDO LLP has appointed Fiona Condron as national head of charities. The audit partner, who has more than 20 years’ experience working across the third sector, takes over the role from Jill Halford, who will continue as national head of not for profit (NFP). In her new position, Condron will continue to work alongside audited entities in the charity and social enterprise sectors. She has experience in advising a wide range of charities, as well as significant in-house experience, including her current role as interim chair and treasurer of Compaid Trust. In separate external hires, the firm has appointed Lucy Saunders (née Eldridge) as a private client partner for the south east and Phil Duma as a transaction services partner for the south west. Saunders will join the private client tax team, operating regionally and nationally. Previously she was a partner at Blick Rothenberg and has 20 years’ experience with expertise in advising international high net worth individuals (HNWIs) on complex tax matters including matrimonial, succession, inheritance, trust and company areas. Duma will be based in the Bristol hub and will advise entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses and private equity investors. He joins from PwC where he was a director.

haysmacintyre has appointed Shimi Shah as an independent non-executive (INE) director and chair of its leadership board. Shah, the firm’s second INE director, joins haysmacintyre having been involved in building and running businesses for over two decades across Europe, the US and the Middle East, working across innovation policy, fund management, and venture capital. She will be working closely with the firm’s leadership board to ensure it continues to grow while investing in its people. Shah is also chair of Carousel Solutions Group and non executive director at Principality Building Society and the Royal Mint.

Albert Goodman has strengthened its specialist advisory offering with the appointment of Neil Hutchings as corporate finance partner. He will join the leadership team at the Taunton-headquartered accountancy firm, and has extensive corporate finance, audit, accountancy, and business advisory skills, working with a range of companies and organisations. Hutchings trained at Deloitte in Nottingham and qualified as a chartered accountant in 2001, ahead of a move to PwC’s Bristol office. He joined Albert Goodman in 2008.

FRP has appointed Faye Hall as a partner in its forensic services team. Based in London, she will support clients across the city while working closely with FRP’s team in Bristol to cover the south west market. She has more than 25 years’ experience in the field, most recently as a partner and head of private client disputes at Evelyn Partners. A member of CIMA and the Expert Witness Institute, Hall has particular expertise in providing financial remedies for divorce proceedings, contentious trust matters and commercial disputes, with experience in the UK and offshore jurisdictions.

RSM UK’s Tyrone Courtman has been appointed European president of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) for two years, effective 1 January 2024. He is a restructuring partner at the firm, specialising in restructuring and recovery situations, with a view to maximising the preservation of enterprise value. He has played an active role in TMA since it started in the UK in 2001, serving as UK president between 2008 and 2010; most recently co-chairing TMA Europe’s conference and sponsorship committee; and helping to shape EACTP, the industry body’s education programme.

Tim Sloggett has been appointed as south west and Wales chair of R3, the UK’s insolvency and restructuring trade body. He is a managing director in the financial advisory team at advisory firm Quantuma, and takes over as chair from Charlotte May, associate director for the south west and Wales at Manolete. In his new role, he will work with R3 to plan and deliver events and conferences for members, and support the representation work.

Optimum Finance has appointed Steve Chapman as risk and recoveries manager to lead its risk and recoveries activity. He has more than 40 years’ experience in invoice finance and the financial services, much of which was spent with the Lloyds Banking Group. More recently he worked for Hitachi Capital.
