Evelyn Partners has appointed Mark Prince as an audit partner and Suzy Hawkey as private client director in its Cambridge office. Prince joins from KPMG where he was audit director. He has more than 28 years’ experience of working with a wide variety of companies and shareholders, predominantly with privately-owned businesses. Hawkey is an experienced chartered tax adviser and trust & estates practitioner who works with individuals, trustees and family businesses. She joins  from Deloitte, where she spent more than nine years. 

Johnston Carmichael has strengthened its expanding Newcastle office with the appointment of Paul Shields as a partner after 25 years of advising clients across the north east. A qualified auditor, he will work with partner and head of VAT, Alex Nicholson, also based in Newcastle, to grow the firm’s presence across the north east. 

BDO has hired two partners in its financial services team. James Billingham and Tim Lawrence join the London office with a wealth of experience in the audit of entities within the financial services sector. They will be focused on the audit of banking, alternative finance, and related entities. Billingham joins from EY, with Lawrence joining from PwC. 

Dains Accountants has appointed John Coates as a partner in its Birmingham office leadership team. He brings a wealth of experience from his previous seven-year tenure at Grant Thornton, where he specialised in audit services and was a partner for the last three year. His expertise and insights are set to augment the firm’s auditing capabilities and client services. He has extensive experience, particularly in automotive and aerospace manufacturing, retail, and healthcare.

MHA Moore and Smalley has appointed Michael Spencer as a tax partner in its Liverpool office. He joins the firm from Grant Thornton where he spent over nine years, most recently as tax director. Before this he worked in the tax team at EY’s Liverpool office. Spencer will support MHA Moore and Smalley’s clients with broad range of tax advice with a particular emphasis on business restructuring, exit readiness, succession planning and wealth protection.

Kilsby Williams appointed Ashley Wareham as a manager in the tax team, while Elizabeth Turner has joined as a manager in the business services team. Wareham has a wealth of experience in tax services for owner managed businesses and VAT advisory work. In his new role, he will oversee a portfolio of personal and corporate tax clients. Turner is a qualified FCA and business finance professional and ILM business coach and mentor. Trainees Charlotte Lewis, Conor Foster, Jake Maddocks and Joshua Raisis have also joined the firm.

Westcotts has promoted Veronique Walkey, director and head of professional services at the Plymouth office and Crediton office based Matt Melksham director to partner. Walkey joined the firm following the merger with Riley in Plymouth two years ago and she advises clients across a range of industries with a focus on corporate and legal clients. Melksham joined the firm as a director earlier this year to head up the Crediton office and support a growing number of clients in mid Devon.

Warrington-based JS has bolstered its growing team with three senior hires with Kay Oldham joining as R&D tax director and Mark Penny as tax manager. Alex Manfrin has been appointed as audit and accounts manager. In addition, the firm has taken on 14 apprentices across its accounts, audit, and tax service lines, who are pursuing various professional qualifications, including ACA, ACCA, AAT and ATT. JS offers a tailored training plan to accompany college and university studies, allowing apprentices to progress into a career at the firm.

Deloitte Legal has appointed Andrew Farmery and George Panteli as partners in its growing real estate legal team. They will provide legal advice and services to the firm’s major corporate clients’ with UK real estate portfolios. Farmery will lead the major corporates sector group and has almost 30 years of legal experience, with a strong specialism in commercial real estate and a particular focus on major corporate occupiers and investors. Panteli brings a wealth of experience with the offices, industrial and retail sectors.
