In this week’s accountancy career moves, partner promotions and hires at Moore Kingston Smith, Albert Goodman, PwC, RSM, Hall Morrice, DJH Mitten Clarke

RSM UK has appointed Angela Keery as director to grow and develop its regional tax offering with a specific focus on Northern Ireland. She will lead RSM’s Belfast team to develop its tax services. A chartered accountant and chartered tax advisor with over 30 years’ experience, covering due diligence, employment tax, inheritance tax planning and company restructuring, with a particular focus on family businesses. Prior to joining RSM, she was tax director at Baker Tilly Moore, where she managed the tax team.

Moore Kingston Smith has appointed Alex Horton as a partner in its media team. He has over 12 years’ experience in guiding individuals and owner-managed businesses in the entertainment industry. He specialises in working with clients across film, TV and theatre regarding technical tax issues such as creative industry tax relief claims, HMRC tax inquiries and cross-border tax, including working closes with LA based clients. He joins from Blinkhorns Accountants where he was a partner.

Albert Goodman has appointed Matthew Potter as financial planning consultant in the wealth management team based across the group’s Yeovil and Weymouth offices. He has 15 years’ experience in the financial services industry and five years in property management, for a broad mix of clients. Potter will take responsibility for helping individuals and families to navigate the intricate world of financial planning and investment.

Hall Morrice has hired Jack Borg-Delaney in a newly created role of an additional audit director to strengthen the leadership team in Aberdeen to enhance audit services. He has extensive experience in audit and compliance, and joined the firm from Deloitte where he was a senior audit manager. He also spent time at EY in various audit roles.

DJH Mitten Clarke has announced a record number of 13 senior promotions, developing the leadership pipeline across their Manchester, Walsall and Stoke-on-Trent offices. The promotions include the appointment of director of marketing & communications, Hayley Plimley, and head of learning & development, Chris Rawlinson, further strengthening the group’s leadership team. Jess Holdcroft and Josh Bennett have been promoted to senior accountant, Steve Bailey to senior tax manager, Andy Pickerill to audit manager, Anisa Nazir to audit senior, Harry Dooley to semi-senior auditor, and Lisa Clifton to senior administrator. Lucy Moult and Brian Malkin become senior client managers and Matt Smith client manager, while Grant Mantle is made senior marketing manager.

PwC has appointed Giorgio Libotte as partner in its value creation and realisation team in a boost to the deals practice. He has over 20 years of private equity experience and joins from Nextalia Private Equity Fund based in Milan, where he was partner and member of the investment committee. Before setting up Nextalia, he spent 16 years at consultancy firm McKinsey. At PwC, he will be focused on helping clients with pre-deal value creation strategy through to post deal value realisation.

Quantuma has appointed Ahmad Chit as managing director in its Middle East practice. The appointment adds further depth to the firm’s growing investigations and asset recovery practice in the region. During the course of his career, Chit has led forensic accounting assignments across the MENA region and held senior roles in the Middle East with major accounting and consulting firms. He is a Canadian qualified chartered accountant with more than 15 years of experience in forensic accounting, investigations and compliance. He joins from HKA, where he was a director.

CIPFA has appointed Owen Mapley, chief executive of Hertfordshire County Council as CEO to replace Rob Whiteman who is retiring. Mapley has extensive financial and operational leadership experience from a range of senior roles in local and central government, including finance director at the Home Office, HM Courts Service and the Legal Aid Agency. He originally trained at Big Four audit firm, PwC, where he spent 10 years before moving into the public sector. Whiteman is due to retire shortly after 10 years leading CIPFA and will work closely with Mapley during the transition period.

Housebuilder The Hill Group has strenghtened its leadership structure by promoting Tony Parker to group finance director, overseeing all aspects of finance within the growing organisation. He was previously residential finance director and he will replace Neil Williams, who recently retired after having been at the helm of the group’s finances since 2011.

Fintech platform Tradeshift has hired Iain Balchin as chief financial officer (CFO) and he will join the board of directors. He brings over 25 years of experience as a senior financial executive across various sectors, including fintech, financial services and wealth management. He has a notable record in helping scaling fintech businesses reach the next level. Most recently he was interim CFO at crypto payment platform Ramp Network.
