The Treasury has set up expert teams to examine public service inefficiencies and waste, with healthcare, homelessness and youth provision priority areas for phase one of the spending crackdown.

The review will focus on rooting out processes that duplicate work and spending, and the initiative will be headed up by chief secretary to the Treasury, James Murray, who will work with ministers of the largest departments to identify waste and cuts costs by introducing reforms and targeted improvements to the current system.
