Held in two locations, Trek Fest will take place in the Brecon Beacons from 6-7 June and later in the Peak District from 5-6 September. Participants are urged to complete 54 miles in 24 hours, 29 miles (27 in the Peak District) in 12 hours or, new for this year, 13 miles in six hours.

The Brecon Beacons provides an extreme physical workout and a psychologically taxing challenge. Participants will cross the highest peaks in the Beacons and South Wales including Pen Y Fan (886m), Corn Du (873m), Cribyn (795m) and Fan Y Big (719m).

Registration is now open for the event, which saw around 800 trekkers take part last year, raising more than £200,000 for various charities.

Entry is via the website, www.trekfest.org.uk and trekkers are welcome to sign up as an individual, or as a company team. As open challenge trekkers they are free to raise sponsorship for a charity of their choice.

Co-founder of Global Adventure Challenges, Peter Robinson, said: ‘We organised the first TrekFest three years ago and it has quickly become one of our leading events. Numbers have doubled year-on-year and show no sign of abating.

‘It offers a fantastic way for like-minded people to dig deep and take on a real challenge with many choosing to support local charities from their own community.

‘We would love for more people from business and finance to get involved this year and show us what they’re made of.

‘While it’s certainly no stroll through the park, TrekFest is more than achievable with the right support and training.’

While teams of insurers, bankers and solicitors have taken part in recent years, there have not been any teams of accountants.

Registration costs start at £40 depending on the distance walked, plus a £280 to £440 minimum sponsorship for a chosen charity, or for those who wish to self-fund, it is a further £110.
