ClearSky Accounting acquires Michael Brooks & Co

Clearsky Accounting, part of the Optionis group, has acquired Manchester accountancy firm Michael Brooks & Co in the first stage of a move to expand its support services to businesses and contractors.

Rob Crossland, CEO of Optionis, said: 'The acquisition is a natural progression in our growth process. This acquisition, which is the first of a number planned this year, allows us to strengthen this position.'

The Optionis Group also includes professional employment organisation Parasol, and ClearSky HR and has around 190 staff and a turnover of £350m. Michael Brooks & Co specialises in accounting for SMEs and has niche practices targeted at the licensed trade, taxi sector and entertainment industry.

Optionis managing director Derek Kelly said the group aimed to make ClearSky a leading SME accountancy firm, building on its reputation in accountancy services for contractors.

'We are looking to shake up the traditional accountancy market by providing expert-led advice, supported by cutting edge technology,' Kelly said.
