Former PwC director takes on FRC standards role

The Financial Reporting Council (FRC) has appointed former PwC director Marian Williams as codes and standards director to support its work on quality corporate governance and reporting.

Williams, who was previously a director in PwC's financial services assurance practice, will be working with Melanie McLaren, FRC's executive director, codes and standards.

McLaren said: 'Marian joins the FRC at an important time as we seek to influence international standard setters and policymakers across a range of corporate governance, accounting, audit and actuarial issues. Marian brings a broad range of experience in respect of financial services reporting, regulation and governance.

Angus Bogle, who has a background in investment funds management, is also joining the FRC as director of investor engagement and will be working with Mridul Hegde, executive director, strategy, to develop an enhanced engagement programme between the FRC and the investor community. He will also liaise with the FRC's codes and standards team to ensure corporate governance and reporting meet investors' needs.

Mridul Hegde, executive director, strategy, said: 'Angus will be heavily involved in overseeing the FRC's project to establish a clearer evidence base about the relationship between stewardship, corporate reporting and auditing, making clear the contribution to stewardship that should be made in each part of the investment chain. He has a wealth of experience in financial markets, including 25 years in blue chip investment organisations on both buy and sell-side.'
