Going concern: is it relevant to SMEs?

The FRC is responding to SME complaints about rules which ignore the way they work, reports Sarah Perrin ACA

When the Financial Reporting Council (FRC) published its draft guidance on going concern to implement the recommendations of the Sharman Panel this January, the approach taken appeared to have ignored the 'think small first' philosophy espoused by government. 'It's applying to all companies, big, medium and small, but didn't look like it had been written with all companies in mind,' says Richard Martin, head of corporate reporting at the ACCA.
