IASB survey on classification of financial assets

The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) is to consult on its plans to amend the classification and measurement of financial assets in financial statements by adding a new category.

IASB has published a survey on its November 2012 Exposure Draft, Classification and Measurement: Limited Amendments to IFRS 9 (Proposed amendments to IFRS 9 (2010).

It is looking for input on proposals to create a third category for the classification of financial assets, Fair Value through Other Comprehensive Income (FVOCI), which IASB says will provide a better portrayal of how financial assets are managed.
