The IFRS Foundation has published Proposed Interim Release 2 to the IFRS Taxonomy 2014, for comment by 20 October 2014
The Proposed Interim Release 2 incorporates the IFRS Taxonomy elements for IFRS 15 Revenue from Contracts with Customers; and Common Practice (transport and pharmaceuticals).
The IFRS Taxonomy is an electronic standard to transmit IFRS financial information and is intended for use by entities reporting in IFRS.
IFRS Taxonomy interim releases contain additional taxonomy concepts that reflect new Standards and improvements to Standards issued by the IASB. They may also contain technical updates, new common practice elements or general taxonomy improvements.
The proposed changes to the IFRS Taxonomy for IFRS 15 relate to the presentation and disclosure of information about revenue from contracts with customers, where new line items and tables have been added.
The Proposed Interim Release 2 package also contains amendments and updates resulting from the empirical analysis of IFRS financial statements of entities engaged in transport and pharmaceutical activities, detailed in a separate Proposed Interim Release document: IFRS Taxonomy 2014—Common Practice (transport and pharmaceuticals).
There is also a new IFRS Taxonomy Guide: Guide to Understanding the IFRS Taxonomy Update which provides an overview of the content of the IFRS Taxonomy and explains the related terminology used.
