VAT e-invoices

New EU VAT rules encourage electronic invoicing, but may reduce the timescale for cross-border invoicing, says Robert Lillycrop

If you are not up to speed with the upcoming changes to VAT invoicing rules, this is the last chance to make sure businesses and clients are prepared for the changes to the VAT invoicing rules, which will be effective from 1 January 2013.

The changes are required as a result of EU directive 2010/45/EU, which applies to all 27 EU member states, and was signed in 2010. The aim of the directive is to reduce VAT invoicing burdens by simplifying processes and ensuring consistent VAT invoicing procedures throughout the EU.
