Advertising giant WPP and property investment company Great Portland Estates landed major awards for producing transparent and trustworthy financial reports yesterday. WPP scooped the award for the FTSE 100 and Great Portland Estates scooped the award for the FTSE 250 at the seventh annual PricewaterhouseCoopers Building Public Trust Awards for excellence in reporting. Accepting his award at a London ceremony that was a 'Who's Who' of the FTSE 100, WPP chief executive Sir Martin Sorrell said of his company's annual report: 'It is a poor man's Warren Buffett's impression in an increasingly transparent world.' National Grid chairman Sir John Parker was given a lifetime achievement award for his consistent and unwavering commitment to transparent and open reporting. 'I'm honoured, humbled and I'm rather amazed,' he said.
