EU rules out minimum threshold for VAT rules for digital sales

The European Commission has refused to introduce a VAT threshold for compliance with the new EU-wide VAT rules on digital sales for small and micro businesses, although they may have limited sales to consumers in Europe

The European Commissioner for Economic and Financial Affairs, Taxation, and Customs, Pierre Moscovici, has issued a statement confirming that a minimum threshold for suppliers of digital services will not be introduced, despite calls for a softening in the approach from a UK MEP and other questions in the European parliament.

In more than one question, the European Commission (EC) has been asked whether there will be an EU-level response to the concerns raised by small businesses about the cost of complying with the new requirements.
