IFRS 10: A weighty subject

The new consolidation standard places a significant burden on preparers, says Andrew Davies

Earlier this year, the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) issued four new standards, including one that has changed the concept of control. The global financial crisis put particular emphasis on this project. It followed criticism that some entities were not consolidating entities they seemed to control, or were funding a distressed entity where previously they had never disclosed a relationship or obligation.
