of steam pushing against IFRS adoption but can it really derail global

Supporters of the International Accounting Standards Board (IASB)
would have found many UK press clippings somewhat depressing reading
towards the end of 2012. Published letters from groupings of corporate
governance experts and other representatives of investment organisations
urged not only UK but also European policymakers to investigate whether
International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) provide ‘a
reliable basis for promoting long-term stewardship’.
