Attaining standards for all was
always going to be ambitious, but at this stage the goal just seems
impossible, says Andrew Vials
When the financial crisis first hit in 2008 one of the key outputs
from the G20 discussions at the time was a request for a single set
of high quality, global accounting standards by 2011. Although the
global economy is hardly in any better shape today, we are still a
long way from that goal. In the context of that objective this article
looks at the current state of play on financial instruments (FI) accounting.
